LOVE FROM GENESEO: THE POSTCARD SHOW
You are invited to submit artwork for the second annual group postcard show entitled “Love from Geneseo”, on display for the month of February 2025
Love From Geneseo is a celebration of local artists, snail mail, love (in its many forms), and Geneseo.
Here is the overall idea - click on the plus sign in each section below for more details.
-
• Artwork can be brand-spanking new or can be pulled from your archives.
• Artwork can be related to love in any form (romantic or not romantic), or can be related to Geneseo, or can be whatever it is that your beautiful creative heart desires. But make sure to think of your submitted pieces through the lens of “Will someone pick this piece of art up to send it to someone else?” If the answer is “probably not”, maybe choose a different piece to submit.
• If you need help preparing your artwork for printing, contact Joanna (jldwalters@gmail.com). I gotchu.
• Submit up to 5 artworks.
• There is no cost to submit artwork.
• New this year: we are accepting only 143 designs total. That means it’s possible that if you submit 5 artworks, we will not print all 5, depending on how many submissions we receive. We will notify you which pieces we’ll be printing from your submissions. -
From the submitted artwork, we will select 143 designs to print. We will prepare the files and place an order for 10 postcards of each design.
• All postcards will have the same back, pictured below.
• All postcards will credit the artist on the front, pictured below.
• The postcard designs will be displayed on the visiting artist wall for the month of February. -
• For the month of February, we’ll set up writing stations full of fun writing utensils at our workshop tables and invite people to sit and write/decorate, and then send their postcards right from The Gallery (or take them home to send).
• The goal is to celebrate more than just Valentine love - we’ll give people prompts for who to write postcards to. A friend you haven’t seen in 10 years, your college roommate, your mom, someone who gave you really good advice, yourself, your friend who’s still looking for love…etc. -
• Each artist will have the option to collect $2 from each of their postcard sales, or donate proceeds from their sold postcards to a fund that will be dedicated toward developing more community arts engagement activities at The Gallery throughout the year.
Here’s what the postcard front and back will look like:

Obviously don’t rip any of these off, but do use as reference when you’re thinking about what kind of art people are likely to want to send to their loved ones. View all 143 postcard designs from last year here.
