IS GOING ON?!

This August, help us craft some local lore.
Have you heard the rumors of a creature within our midst? Whisperings of seven-legged cats, sea creatures with beaks, and other mysterious beings lingering in the dusky valley?
So have we, and it’s strange. We’ve set out to expose the truth about these sightings.

So we invited your favorite local artists to illustrate what they’ve seen or imagined lurking around corners and down alleyways, roaming through moonlit fields, swimming in murky waters.
This August, The Gallery will reveal to the public a collection of never-before-seen depictions of the unidentified creatures that roam these parts.
But we need your help. Which of these creatures is the true Genesee Valley cryptid? Which one belongs among the ranks of the Loch Ness monster, of Bigfoot, of the Mothman. Which one can compare to the Kraken, the Chupacabra?!
Which creature best represents our area? Well that’s for you, the human inhabitants of this valley to decide.
Stop into The Gallery in the Valley in person, this August, to meet the cryptids and cast a vote for your favorite.
That’s The Gallery in the Valley. 79 Main Street, Geneseo, NY. Right next to the bear fountain (who may or may not be haunted by a cryptid).

Famous cryptids from other regions. Who from the Genesee Valley will join their ranks?
-
Loch Ness Monster
“Nessie”. You know her, you love her. Native to the Scottish Highlands.
-
Loveland Frog
A legendary humanoid frog described as standing roughly 4 feet tall, allegedly spotted in Loveland, Ohio.
-
Mothman
Native to Point Pleasant, Virginia. Sightings are considered bad omens.
-
The Squonk
The Squonk, native to hemlock forests of Pennsylvania, so ugly he cries when he sees his reflection.
-
Bigfoot
Hide and seek world champion. Humongous hairy human-like mythical creature that roams forests, often spotted in the Pacific Northwest.
-
The Kraken
Release the Kraken! A giant squid-like creature said to appear in the sea between Norway and Iceland.
-
Chupacabra
Or, “goat sucker” in Spanish. Sounds like it would be cuter than this, honestly. Alleged chupacabra sightings came from farmers in Puerto Rico in the late 1980s and early 1990s.
-
[Genesee Valley Cryptid]
One of the cryptids on our wall this August will rise to fame as the Genesee Valley Cryptid. Who will it be?!? That’s up to you!
